Framing your examples
The cover letter is your way of making your first impression. It is the first thing a prospective employer sees and associates you with. This is why it is crucial you send in the best cover letter you can.
Similarly, the interview stage is where the prospective employer can have a conversation with you, get to know you and see if they think you would be a good fit for the job. Here is it equally as important to espouse key values of the company and frame your examples to best fit that company.
A strong interview example / cover letter is concise, organised and full of buzz words.
The best tip is to research the company you are applying for. Read their job ads, their 'about us' page and even their annual report. Make a note of the main themes they talk about, skills they value and vocab/wordings they use often.
The key is to mirror their values as much as you can in your writing and examples by using 'buzz words' they use and linking back to the company's values in all you say. And always make sure you use the STAR method.
S: situation: briefly set the scene
T: task: explain the work you were doing / the issue you were facing while doing it
A: action: explain how/what you did
R: result: explain the result and don't forget to link it back to the job role you have applied for
And as always:
